VSMT

Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT), also known as animal chiropractic care, is a key part of our holistic approach to pet wellness. By gently adjusting the spine and joints, VSMT helps improve mobility, relieve pain, and support nervous system function. Whether your pet is an aging companion, an active animal, or recovering from an injury, our goal is to keep your pet moving comfortably and living their happiest, healthiest life.

What to Expect During Your Appointment

  • You will stay in the room and help with treatment by gently keeping your pet’s head held in a straight position in alignment with the spine.

  • This treatment does not hurt and unlike in human chiropractic, there is no twisting and usually no pops or cracks heard.

  • Most patients are very accepting of this modality.

More About VSMT

Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (VMST) is similar to human chiropractic.  It involves releasing vertebral segments and joints from a “stuck” position.  These areas can be stuck due to muscular tension in that area or from arthritic changes.  By allowing movement back into that region, improved blood flow, lymph flow and nerve conduction is the result.  There is often pain relief seen by immediate change in posture and gait. In case of a neurologic condition, proprioception can be immediately improved.  In other words, the patient is able to return their paw from a flipped over position when prior to treatment they could not.

Other Benefits

VSMT is not just for spinal health.  Nerve conduction is important for every aspect of the body from injury prevention to GI balance.  It is from the spinal cord that nerves flow into and out of to provide a constant connection between the brain and organ systems.
