Vitamin C Therapy

At Natural Healing Pet Care, we offer intravenous (IV) Vitamin C therapy in two distinct forms: one is designed to promote healing and enhance your pet's overall well-being, while the other specifically targets cancer cells to help fight the disease. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing compassionate care and support throughout the treatment process, ensuring that your pet receives the best possible outcome. What to Expect

For low dose IV Vitamin C therapy, the IV treatment lasts about 1 hour.
For high dose IV Vitamin C therapy, the treatment lasts between 3-4 hours.
You can give breakfast and medications/supplements as you normally would prior to the infusion unless otherwise directed for specific blood work we may need to take ahead of time.
These treatments can be performed with your pet hospitalized with us or we have private treatment rooms available so you can remain with them.
If we feel your pet is too stressed away from you during the process, we will require you to stay. The emotional comfort of your pet is just as important to us as is the physical benefits of the treatment.

What to Look for Post Procedure:

Drinking and urinating more than usual is common after the infusion.
They may eat as normal and take medications / supplements unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Are there any side effects after the infusion like diarrhea, vomiting, change in eating habits, any unusual behavior? If there are more infusions planned this week, we may leave the IV catheter in place. It will be wrapped and will need to stay clean and dry. Your pet may need to wear an e-collar at home also.

The Process

They will need to be shaved for this before the IV catheter is put in.
They will have an intravenous catheter placed, usually in a front leg but sometimes in a rear leg.
If your pet does not leave the IV catheter alone while it is in place they will need to wear an e-collar.
Then there will be a wrap placed around that area of the leg.
Occasionally, a pet will do better with you here with them for the infusion. In those cases we will set you all up in a private treatment room and then place the IV catheter in our large treatment area.
Sometimes a catheter does not work and this causes a delay. It is occasionally possible for the IV catheter to become blown and it will need to be replaced. This is when the fluid leaks outside of the vein. If there is fluid under the skin, it is not harmful and will dissipate over several hours or days.

High Dose Vitamin C

High dosage Vitamin C treatments become an oxidative therapy and is used as a tool for treating cancer.

The role of High Dose Vitamin C in cancer treatments:

During cancer, High Dose Vitamin C is absorbed by the tumor cells causing cell death. It inhibits new blood vessels from growing, limiting the tumor’s ability to grow and metastasize. Lastly, Vitamin C will promote collagen growth, which creates a wall around the tumor cells, preventing the growth and spread of the harmful cancer cell invasion.
